Initial Ministerial Education – IME 1-3
A 10 day residential Pastoral Studies Unit on Ministry in Multi-Faith Contexts, based in Bradford.
Themes include: Why Interfaith? Urban ministry, Islam, Hinduism and Sikhism, and include visits and speakers from each religion, visits to multi-ethnic schools and exposure to chaplaincy work. Theological reflection on pastoral and missiological implications for inter faith ministry are also covered. Students stay with clergy working in multi cultural areas to experience ministry first hand.
Continuing Ministerial Education
2 x 24hr linked residential course as part of CME training, specifically on Christian/Muslim Relations
Themes include; an exposure day to a Muslim area and meeting with Muslims, exploring religious leadership, gender and intergenerational issues and challenges facing Muslim integration into British society, the nature of Islam-prayer and worship, radical Islam, Islam and Christianity; post 7/7, identity politics, media and attitudes towards Christianity.
Course for professional church workers (clergy and lay employees)
2 x 24hr linked residential course on Christian/ Muslim Relations based in Bradford
Themes include; the socio-demographic profile of Muslims in Britain, religious leadership, identity politics, gender and intergenerational issues, challenges of leadership issues within Muslim society and their impact on integration, ‘lived Islam’ and the challenge of Christian Muslim relations. Pastoral, theological and missiological implications for ministry are also explored.
Walk Alongside Day
A day for church leadership teams with a BCDD consultant, held at the hosting church, addressing the issues ‘in situ’.
Looking at the complexities of Christian life in multi-faith contexts; accompanying churches through a period of reflection, prayer and planning.
Issue based workshops – clergy and lay groups
A day or half day workshop focusing on one specific issue relevant to the group. This can be based either in Bradford or elsewhere.
Themes may include; Christian/ Muslim Relations post 7/7, 'Spirituality for the Road' sustaining ministry in multi-faith contexts, mediation and conflict management.
Follow Up days
BCDD is committed to the ongoing support of its delegates and runs follow up days, helping participants reflect on their ministry and encouraging spiritual development for ministry in multi-faith contexts.
